I was admitted because he couldn't pass water they inserted a catheter and a drain to help on the day of my discharge I was sent home without a catheter in and was rushed back to hospital that same night with excruciating pain where I had a catheter inserted in A&E and was admitted to ward A4 where they was excellent and since been discharged with a catheter inserted

Review of Accident & Emergency Department written by a patient
5th March 2018

I was admitted 4/3/18 at 4:30pm The place was ram packed and I ended up in a corridor for hours, I thought the staff in the resus room where a bit cold hearted some of the thing I heard said about patients wasn’t nice. However I’m writing this because when there were no beds they turned the ambulance care centre into a makeshift ward, I was the youngest there by 40 years plus but i had a lovely experience the nurse and care assistant a woman and man sadly cannot remember there names were excellent so friendly comforting and just amazing they do not get the credit they deserve 8 patients most of which with dementia to two people and technically only one nurse, I hope this gets to them and they receive this feedback I have never enjoyed a night in hospital before but they were so friendly and comforting that I had a laugh with them! I was the tonsillitis patient in bed 8 from 2am on 5/3/18.

Review of Ward A4 written by a patient
24th February 2018

After 18 hrs in A&E I was given a bed on A4, usually a Gastro ward and I had severe cellulitus but it was out of A&E and out of the corridor. Here I spent 3 weeks as a patient a very long time let me tell you but I can only praise the staff especially when more often than not they were short staffed. The team pulled together and were fully committed under circumstances that canonly be described as a very busy and always full to capacity ward, including some very demanding patients that I saw during my stay. My heartfelt thanks goes out to everyone who works on A4 as they definitely kept me sane during my 3 week stay. All staff always had a smile on their face and nothing was too much trouble. As an NHS employee my job as a phlebotomist means that I am only on the wards for a short time and you do not realise how hard the staff on here work and you do not appreciate how busy they are, again on most occasions they are also short staffed, making their job even harder. A huge thanks and well done to all on A4 and for all your help and care that I received during my stay

I was discharged this morning after a months out patient treatment in the surgical assessment unit (SAU) involving an operation and subsequent care. In my opinion this unit is a model for such care - run by professionals for the benefit of patients all the staff were friendly, diligent and cheerful. delays were minimised and staff just got on with it without fuss . I cannot praise the service highly enough- I was a little worried when I was referred because the press the NHS gets is so poor but not a bit of it! the unit was busy but my treatment was second to none.

Review of Breast Screening written by a patient
17th February 2018

I was referred to the Breast Screening unit by my GP due to having breast pain. I was relieved that I could have my appointment at the Breast Screening dept very soon after my referral. At my breast screening unit appointment, I was was seen by the Dr on time who recommended a mammogram and ultrasound. I was impressed and relieved that these procedures and the discussion of their results could be done in a very timely way as part of my appointment (I was expecting to have to make another appointment for these which would not have been ideal). My appointment plus the 2 procedures and resulting discussion were handled in a very efficient manner as I was in the unit for no more than 45 mins. I was impressed by the friendly, competent staff and the respect and care that I received throughout my appointment - I could not have asked for better. Thank you very much!

Review of Accident & Emergency Department written by a patient
9th February 2018

I am profoundly deaf and find it difficult to hear my name being called in a busy environment. The was an electronic moving sign in the Department but it was witched off. It would have been easier for me if this sign had been working so that my name could appear when staff were ready for me. The x-ray staff were particularly helpful knowing of my deafness. The nurse practitioner was very helpful and understanding of my condition and I came away with exactly the right help for my presenting problem. Altogether a very good experience.
